All You Need to Know About Mumbai Metro Line 12

Mumbai Metro Line 12 is an extension of the Orange Line. This will be an elevated metro line of 22.17 kilometres. It will connect Navi Mumbai to Kalyan-Dombivli city. 

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) approved the Kalyan-Dombivli-Taloja metro line.

Mumbai Metro Line 12 – Key Details

The Kalyan-Taloja metro line 12 starts from Kalyan East. It passes through key residential and industrial areas of Ganesh Nagar, Golavali, Dombivli MIDC, Manpada, Hedutane, Nilje Gaon, Vadavali, Turbhe, Pisarve Depot and Talloja being the last station. The 22.17-km long metro line will have 19 stations. 

The estimated construction cost is Rs 2037.2 crore. 

SYSTRA MVA Consulting – DB Engineering & Consulting JV was appointed General Consultant of Metro Line 12.

How Will Metro Line 12 Benefit People?

The Metro Line 12 will foster connectivity between Kalyan and Taloja. It takes more than 1 hour of travel between these areas. This 22-km metro route will reduce this time to a mere 25-30 minutes.

This fast commute will highly benefit people who commute daily to industrial areas like Taloja, Turbhe and MIDC.

Metro Line 12 – Current Status

MMRDA has targeted the completion date in 2027. 

In December 2023, MMRDA invited tenders for this project. Three firms namely Gawar Constructions Ltd, Kumar Infaprojects Ltd, and Welspun Enterprises Ltd, submitted bids for civil construction work. 

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde laid the foundation for this project on March 3, 2024.
